NFL draft weekend proved to be a big one for Michigan football, with 10 players selected. Here are some final thoughts on the draft for the Wolverines.

It was a huge weekend for the Michigan football program as eight Wolverines were selected Saturday in the 2020 NFL draft.

Those eight guys brought the Wolverines total over the three-day NFL selection meeting to 10, which is the second-highest in school history, falling short behind only the 2017 NFL draft, which saw 11 Michigan football players selected.

Obviously, the Wolverines had just one player go in the first round and one in the third, so the first two days were a little slow, but in the five years under Jim Harbaugh, U-M has had 31 players selected in the draft, including five first-round picks, which is a dramatic improvement from the previous five years according to Garrett Fishaw.

The run that Michigan got Saturday starting near the end of the fourth round was pretty incredible. Four offensive lineman would go before the end of the sixth round and despite Donovan Peoples-Jones and Lavert Hill unexpectedly dropping, it was a good day all around for the Wolverines.

Hill eventually signed as a undrafted free agent with the Chiefs. Sean McKeon signed a rookie free agent deal with Dallas and as of right now, Shea Patterson hasn’t signed with anyone. He was another guy who didn’t hear his name called late in the draft as some, myself included thought possible.

Tying with Ohio State for the second-highest number of players selected, it was a good draft weekend for the Wolverines and here are the final five takeaways.
