Michigan football will get an official visit from 2021 three-star tackle Tristan Bounds, which is interesting for a prospect the Wolverines could need.

At some point, there is only so many guys you can take at one position in a recruiting class and that’s something Michigan football will have to monitor in 2021 with the offensive line.

Offensive line coach Ed Warriner has turned out to be a dynamic recruiter and that has never been more true than this cycle, which has already seen him land Giovanni El-Hadi, a top-100 left tackle, Greg Crippen and Raheem Anderson, both four-star prospects ranked in the top 222.

That’s a solid haul, but the Wolverines aren’t done. In fact, they could add 2-3 more offensive lineman to the 2021 class, but you have to wonder, exactly how many can they afford to take? Programs are only allowed so many scholarships, so there does have to be a limit.

Six seems like a stretch. But if Rocco Spindler, Drew Kendall and David Davidkov all wanted to commit, I’m sure Michigan football would take them. If that happens, it’s hard to see the Wolverines taking three-star tackle Tristan Bounds, but as of right now, the 6-foot-7 recruit from Connecticut is absolutely on the radar.

Bounds is ranked 694th nationally according to the 247 composite rankings and he’s 39th among offensive tackles. But he’s a guy who has a ton of upside and offers the kind of size that you can’t coach.

And while there is a lot of uncertainty ahead for Michigan football and the entire 2021 class, Bounds has rescheduled an official visit to Ann Arbor for June 19-21 according to The Michigan Insider ($).

It feels like if the Wolverines really wanted to make a push for him, they could land him, because there really aren’t any other heavyweights involved with him yet. At any rate, by the time June rolls around, Michigan might have a better idea of what’s happening with its offensive line recruits.

With one tackle already committed for 2021, you wouldn’t think Michigan would take many more beyond Davidkov, but if say, Spindler or Kendall go elsewhere, U-M might be take Bounds, who has potential and could probably play on the left or right side.

The bottom line is that Michigan is in on a lot of offensive lineman right now and while many are talented, the Wolverines can’t take them all. So we’ll have to see how it sorts out in the next few months, but Bounds is definitely a name to remember in terms of offensive tackle targets.
