Michigan Basketball: 3 Thoughts on Wolverines’ 2020 recruiting class
Williams is undersized and underrated
There are reasons to be excited about all four of Michigan’s signees in basketball, but with Terrance Williams, there really seems to be a ton of upside. Maybe upside isn’t even the right word. Basically, the kid is really good and he’s going to prove it to people.
If you aren’t familiar with Williams, a four-star that’s a top-100 recruit, he’s 6-foot-6 or so and even for that size, he’s a really good player. However, if he was 6-foot-9 or 6-foot-10, he’d probably be a top-20 recruit and that’s something you’ll see at Michigan.
Williams just sort of does a lot of things well. He can shoot the 3-ball, he can play the three or the four, he actually played the five a lot in high school, and he just does a lot of things well.
If Isaiah Livers ends up staying in the NBA draft, Williams will see time at the four this season for the Wolverines and if he shoots the ball well from deep, he could be really effective. According to UMHoops ($) he shot 36 percent last summer on 3-pointers and 42 percent on 91 attempts in his EYBL games.
Outside of great size and athleticism, Williams has everything you want in a Big Ten player and like Dickinson, he’s someone that projects to be a multi-year starter and now, without Todd or Christopher, he should even get some run next season.
