Michigan football has been pushing hard with top-100 offensive lineman Drew Kendall and it appears to be working as the Wolverines are gaining momentum and crystal balls.

The Michigan football program is building a really strong offensive line class in 2021 and the Wolverines are hoping to add even more after three four-star additions up front already.

One of the obvious priorities for Michigan football in the 2021 recruiting class has been in-state offensive guard Rocco Spindler. Now, Spindler could also play defensive line, but regardless, he’s a top-50 recruit and the No. 2 prospect in the state of Michigan.

The Wolverines have been in non-stop contact with Spindler, according to Brice Marich of the Michigan Insider ($) but Michigan has also been making a push with another top-100 offensive lineman and that’s Drew Kendall of Massachusetts.

Marich reported a couple of days ago ($) that Kendall would be talking with Jim Harbaugh, Don Brown and Ed Warriner via phone, along with his parents. That was set to be Wednesday and now, Marich has issued a crystal ball predicting Kendall to U-M.

Kendall has already taken a visit to Ann Arbor and was able to do that back in January. He spoke highly of the facilities and has had nothing but praise for Harbaugh and the rest of the coaching staff.

One of Kendall’s teammates, is also committed to Michigan as part of the 2021 class. That’s three-star linebacker Casey Phinney. While that could make Kendall’s decision easier, that doesn’t seem to be why he’s trending with the Wolverines.

The main rival for Kendall’s commitment seems to be Boston College, which still has three crystal ball projections to its credit. However, the Wolverines have picked up the last two and some are starting to see Michigan as the favorite.

While that’s good news and landing the No. 6 guard prospect according to the 247 sports composite rankings, as well as the 78th player overall in 247’s own rankings is a positive thing, it has to make you a little uneasy about Spindler.

Notre Dame has been picking up traction with Spindler and you have to wonder if the Wolverines increased efforts with Kendall are a backup plan of sorts in case Rocco chooses the Fighting Irish.

Both players are highly-touted guards and even though each could play defense, the recruitment so far has centered along the offensive line. I’m sure Michigan would gladly take both. Will it play out that way? That’s anyone’s guess.
