Michigan football fans hoping for some good news on the recruiting front may be getting it from a 3-star wideout from Ohio in relatively short order.

It’s been a good few weeks for Michigan football on the recruiting trail and after the Wolverines landed four-star center Raheem Anderson on Sunday, the 2021 class moved up to 10th nationally and fourth in the Big Ten.

The Wolverines have landed six commitments since the end of March, with three four-star prospects, Greg Crippen, Anderson and tight end Louis Hansen making verbal pledges.

But yesterday, on Twitter, current Michigan football receiver Giles Jackson put up an image that fans recognize. It was the Ralphie meme waving happily, which is what recruiting coordinator Matt Dudek used to Tweet out when he would tease good news.

This, of course, got fans excited, because well, Monday and Tuesday were not good for fans of the Michigan basketball program, but let’s not talk about that.

Back to Jackson’s Tweet. Once he put that out there, it seemed to indicate he knew a commitment was coming and if you checked out recent crystal ball activity on 247 sports, it would seem to indicate that three-star wide receiver Markus Allen could be committing soon to U-M.

Before yesterday, Allen had both of his crystal ball projections going to the Wolverines. But then, he picked up two on Tuesday, one from Sam Webb and another from Allen Trieu, both of The Michigan Insider.

Webb is a little more conservative with his picks and generally, doesn’t put them until later in the process and with guys like Allen, who aren’t as highly touted, he tends to do so right before they commit. That’s entirely speculation and a total guess, but if you connect the dots, it makes sense.

Jackson probably wouldn’t be privy to much recruiting info, but as a wide receiver, he may know about wide receivers, so the idea that his tweet could be pointing to Allen isn’t far-fetched.

Whether that ends up being the case or not, Michigan still seems to be on very solid ground with Allen, a kid that Josh Gattis and others seems to like more than the rankings ($), which have him 600th nationally according to 247 sports composite rankings and 90th among wide receivers.

Fans may scoff at Allen, a three-star, however, Purdue and Wisconsin, as well as Michigan State are also interested and at 6-foot-2, he has the size the Wolverines are after. He’s great catching the ball in traffic and seems to have a knack for making plays. Stay tuned.
