Payton Willis

While most of the top graduate transfers have already committed or have narrowed their list of top schools, Michigan basketball might still be able to make a run at Payton Willis, who started last season for Minnesota in the Big Ten.

Willis averaged 8.6 points for the Gophers and shot 38 percent from the field. But he shot 35 percent from 3-point range and is a 34-percent shooter from beyond the arc for his career.

The Fayetteville, Arkansas native has heard from Arkansas, as well as a few other schools. This is from KNWA, a local TV station. Yet, it still seems early in the process and Michigan could offer Willis the chance at some real playing time.

He’s not guaranteed a starting job, but there could be some flexibility and it would essentially boil down to Willis and Smith. Brooks could conceivably play the one or the two. Willis also had a positive turnover-assist ratio and he’s not a guy who needs the ball much, so he could fit right in.
