No. 2 Michigan vs. Michigan State 2015

The final two games on the list are not going to bring much joy to the Michigan fans. The first Michigan vs MSU game in the Harbaugh era. Dantonio vs. Harbaugh. #7 vs. #12. The game lived up to the hype that had surrounded it in the days before kickoff.

The game will be remembered by college football fans forever as the “trouble with the snap” game. Those are the famous words of Sean McDonough on the final play of the game. They still haunt many Michigan football fans.

The game was a back and forth affair with the Wolverines taking a 20-14 lead into the fourth quarter. Michigan expanded its lead to 23-14 on a field goal from Kenny Allen with just over nine minutes left in the game. That was the last time that the Wolverines would score in the game.

Michigan State was looking for a quick score because there wasn’t a lot of time for them to score twice. They drew up the perfect play on the next series. Cook to Pendleton for 74 yards and that put them on the one-yard line. On the next play, LJ Scott would punch it in from one yard out and just like that, not even 30 seconds later, MSU was only down two, 23-21.

The two teams traded possessions and Michigan got the ball back with 1:42 remaining. They just needed to run out the clock to seal the victory. Michigan ran the ball three times with De’Veon Smith, failing to get the first down. Michigan had to punt with 10 seconds left.

The last play of the game everyone should know. Michigan punter Blake O’Neill has trouble with the snap and the ball ends up in the hands of Jalen Watts-Jackson who scampers into the endzone for the game-winning touchdown as time expired.

Even though the game didn’t end in Michigan’s favor, it is easily the best game of the last decade between the Spartans and Wolverines.

If that is No. 2 on the list, many may be wondering what No.1 is. Let’s find out.
