Michigan Football: Top 5 games of the Jim Harbaugh era for Wolverines
By Ryan Kraus
No. 4 2019 vs. Michigan State
The in-state rivalry’s latest iteration was a good one for the Wolverines. The Big House was rocking as the Wolverines beat the Spartans 44-10. Michigan State scored first but that was just about all the offense they could muster.
The aerial assault was on full display for Shea Patterson. He threw for 384 yards and four TD’s in what was his best game in the winged helmet. Ronnie Bell led the receivers with nine catches for 150 yards.
Michigan winning this game seemed to turn the rivalry back into Michigan’s favor. Under Jim Harbaugh, Michigan was just 2-2 against the Spartans before this game. The Spartans had Michigan’s number for a 10-year stretch where they went 8-2.
The Wolverines had two wins against the Spartans but they were not as convincing as this win. Michigan football proved that it was the far superior team on that November afternoon.
With the win, Michigan had won two in a row against the Spartans for the first time since 06-07. This game was also the first win against MSU at home for the Wolverines under Harbaugh.
