811. . . . Steve Breaston. 10. player

Michigan’s Steve Breaston was practicing social distancing before it was mandatory during kickoffs, punt returns, and really anytime he had the ball in his hands. He was, among many other things, a legendary return man, lightning-fast receiver, and all-around athlete.

Steve is sixth all-time for receptions and, over his four years, he caught 156 passes for 2,017 yards and ten touchdowns. He also rushed for 321 yards on 42 carries, and he returned 127 punts for 1,599 yards and four touchdowns.

Breaston also averaged 24.6 yards per kick return on 81 returns.

Out of high school, Steve wasn’t ranked near the top as 247 sports has him 190th overall, and Rivals didn’t have a ranking. Lloyd Carr recognized his potential and turned Steve into one of the best all-around athletes to attend the university.

At Michigan, Breaston participated in the infamous 2006 matchup with Ohio State later dubbed the “Game of the Century” between No. 2 UM and No. 1 OSU in the Shoe.

Once he left the Wolverines, Breaston entered the NFL draft and found himself selected in the fifth round by the Arizona Cardinals. The trio of Breaston, Larry Fitzgerald, Anquan Boldin, all recorded at least 1,000 yards during the 2008 season joining elite company like the trio of Kellen Winslow, John Jefferson, and Charlie Joiner.
