Michigan Football: Jamari Buddin could be next to commit to Wolverines
Michigan football has earned four new commitments in just the last week and another could be picked up Friday from four-star Jamari Buddin.
Jamari Buddin has been a top target for the Michigan football program in the 2021 class for some time and it’s possible, that focus and energy will pay off very soon.
While Buddin talked about making a decision down the road, after taking some more visits, the news that visits won’t be allowed, at least until after May, seems to have changed things for Buddin, a four-star prospect that ranks 261st overall according to the 247 sports composite rankings and 21st at outside linebacker. He’s the ninth-best player in the state of Michigan.
Here’s what Buddin told Sam Webb of The Michigan Insider recently ($) about his decision being moved about from December:
"“(A decision will come) probably before the season just because of the changes with this whole corona thing. I’ve got schools that I think would be a great fit for me in my career. So, why wait if you know a certain school that you would want to go to? Why wait that long? Why not lock up your spot and call that spot home?”"
It seems like the place that Buddin would call home in terms of a school is Michigan football. The Wolverines have made sure to impress that he’s been a top priority throughout this cycle and even during this period, Michigan has still been in contact, which reiterates he’s a top target.
Then, on Thursday, Buddin teased some sort of announcement Friday via Twitter.

It sure sounds like Buddin could be really to make a commitment announcement, but it’s hard to say for sure. But with all of his crystal ball projections pointing to Michigan football and if you interpret his words to Webb, it sure feels like the Wolverines are going to get him.
If that happens Friday, even better. Michigan football has already landed pledges from Greg Crippen, Dominick Giudice and tight end Louis Hansen, who committed Thursday.
Crippen is a former Notre Dame commit who ranks 222nd overall. Hansen is 187th and Giudice is a lower-ranked three star. Michigan also nabbed a commitment from No. 2 punter Tommy Doman Thursday night.
Michigan has the 15th-ranked class total in 2021 and is sixth in the Big Ten as of right now. But if Buddin commits Friday, that ranking should go up and Wolverines fans should be excited about a linebacker that runs a 4.39 and be a legit three-down guy in the mold of Devin Bush.
