The shot

To this day, the 3-point shot that Trey Burke hit against Kansas is the single greatest moment I have experienced as a Michigan basketball fan.

I was only three years old when the Wolverines won the national championship in 1989 and even though I watched the Fab Five religiously as a youngster, that shot will live with me for the rest of my life.

Obviously, that wasn’t the only bucket Burke made that day. He finished with 23 points and 10 assists. He was 4-of-11 from beyond the arc. After the game went into overtime, Burke quickly gave Michigan basketball the lead and besides, once he hit that shot, you knew the Wolverines were going to win.

Two days later, U-M routed Florida and beat Syracuse before falling to Louisville in the national championship game.

It’s too bad Michigan couldn’t finish off the magical run in the 2013 NCAA Tournament, but like Burke’s legendary shot, it still means the world to me and according to this poll, I’m not alone. His shot was the best moment for many Wolverine fans and in terms of players, he still tops my list.
