Will Franz stay? If so, he starts

On top of potentially getting some very talented freshmen in Christopher, Todd, Hunter Dickinson, Jackson and Terrance Williams, Michigan basketball could have three double-digit scorers returning next season and Franz Wagner is one of them.

The others are Isaiah Livers and Brooks. But of all the possible guys that could leave, Wagner could be among the most likely to consider the NBA draft. He nearly stayed in Germany last year to play professionally and with the way he came on near the end of the season, it’s hard to believe he wouldn’t at least be a second-round pick.

At the very least, he could get a solid financial deal to play in the G-League or could even earn a two-way contract to start if he got passed over in the draft.

Yet, the lack of a postseason probably hurt Wagner, as much as it did Livers and a possible lack of workouts or a combine, seems to make it more likely that Moe’s little brother will stay for another year.

If he does, expect an even better season from Wagner. He averaged over 11 points per game and made 31 percent of his 3-pointers, but with guys who can attack the bucket like Christopher and Todd, as well as the inside presence of Dickinson and Davis, he could have a lot more open looks and like Robinson once did at U-M, he will make a healthy living out of the corner three.
