Former 5-star ready for stardom

One of the cornerstones of the Wolverines 2019 class was five-star defensive back Daxton Hill, who started to emerge near the end of his freshman season with Michigan football.

Hill started the last few games after getting the nod against Indiana and against the Hoosiers, Buckeyes and Alabama, Hill looked like one of the best players on the defense. In his first career start, he notched his first career interception. He also had 19 tackles over the last three outings.

While he was used in the nickel for most of last season, it seems like Michigan would be better served playing him as a deep safety and letting him roam around and make plays.

This defense needs an eraser, someone that can make up for mistakes with pure speed. Last season, putting Hill in that role would have required a lot of knowledge and probably would have been too much.

Now, he should have that familiarity and the ability to play centerfield where his dynamic ability can make a true impact for a defense desperately in need of a true difference-maker.
