Michigan football didn’t waste much time offering a former Notre Dame commit, plus a trusted source has a Donovan Edwards update.

There is no question that the commitment of Evan Pryor to Ohio State has given Michigan football an opening with running back Donovan Edwards, one of the top recruits in the state of Michigan.

Edwards is very similar in his ranking to Zach Charbonnet. He’s a four-star in the 247 composite rankings and he is the No. 2 running back. Things with the West Bloomfield prospect seemed to be trending towards Ohio State until Pryor announced his commitment to the Buckeyes a few days ago.

While it doesn’t rule out Edwards to Ohio State,  a few interesting things have happened since. After Sam Webb of The Michigan Insider posted something implying a new opening for Michigan football because of Pryor, Ron Bellamy, Edwards high school coach and a former Michigan football player seemed to agree with the assessment.

Then, there was a change with Edwards crystal ball projections. Steve Wiltfong of 247 sports went from Ohio State back to foggy, which could be a positive sign for the Wolverines, who also, according to Webb ($), contacted Edwards with head coach Jim Harbaugh, who is playing a bigger role in the recruitment.

We will have to wait and see if Michigan’s push will make the difference with Edwards, who is also getting a lot of interest from Georgia. But another recruiting front in 2021, the Wolverines are going after former Notre Dame commit Deion Colzie.

Colzie, who is one of the top wideouts in the 2021 class, de-committed from Notre Dame Friday afternoon and reported on his Twitter account that Michigan football had offered by Friday night.

Since he re-opened his recruitment, Colzie has gotten offers from Michigan, Minnesota and Oregon. Georgia is also going to be very much in the mix too for the No. 46 prospect in 2021 according to the 247 sports composite rankings and the fourth-best wide receiver.

Colzie is 6-foot-4 and 187 pounds. He’s one of the most dynamic skill guys in this class and he seemed like he was solidly Notre Dame. It’s good to see Michigan get in on his recruitment and quarterback J.J. McCarthy was recruiting on Twitter, which could help, but with Colzie residing in Athens, Georgia, it seems like the Bulldogs will be a tough opponent when it comes to signing him.
