Chris Hinton

After last season, much of the talk when it comes to the defensive side of the ball is how much Michigan football needs a run stuffer in the middle of the field.

Well, that’s true, but the good news is that Michigan might already have that guy on the roster in defensive tackle Chris Hinton.

Hinton isn’t the traditional nose tackle type, meaning he doesn’t weight 330 pounds or anything like that. But he is 6-foot-4 and 305 pounds and he knows how to play the run. He might fit best as a three-technique instead of playing a nose tackle type of position, which would probably suit someone like Mazi Smith better anyway.

Either way, Hinton is a guy that needs to have a breakout campaign for Michigan next season if the Wolverines really want to improve on the defensive side of the ball. The depth chart is a little thing on the defensive line. There are bodies but guys that need to prove themselves and Hinton is one of them.
