Chris Evans

Last season, Michigan football was without running back Chris Evans and with the emergence of guys like Zach Charbonnet and Hassan Haskins, the loss wasn’t felt as much as it could have been.

Yet, that doesn’t mean that Evans wouldn’t have found a way to contribute for the Wolverines and new offensive coordinator Josh Gattis. In fact, Evans is exactly the kind of back that Michigan football was missing last season, the guy who can catch a short pass and turn into something much more. Here’s an example of what he can do as a pass catcher.

During his first three seasons as a Wolverine, Evans caught 40 passes and that was in an offense that didn’t make much out of throwing to backs. He has 16 career touchdowns and averaged 5.7 yards per rush, in addition to 9.8 yards per reception, so even if Evans is just the No. 3 back, he could play a vital role in 2020.

Of course, this was after Evans was reinstated academically for the winter school term. That means Evans would have been out there in the spring and it’s too bad it got canceled, cause it would have been fun to see him and freshman Blake Corum in Gattis’ offense.

Guess we’ll have to wait till fall.
