Cornelius Johnson

One of the up-and-coming guys is wideout Cornelius Johnson, a 6-foot-3 receiver that made a good impression last season in limited action. Johnson played in just three games and that could give him a redshirt season, but he also caught four passes for 61 yards and hauled in a touchdown pass against Michigan State.

Ever since he came out of Connecticut, it felt like he was underrated and with an opening on the outside with Donovan Peoples-Jones gone, he seemed like a perfect candidate to step in and fill that void during the spring.

Obviously, Michigan football is in a good position with Nico Collins, Ronnie Bell, Mike Sainristil and Giles Jackson, but having another deep threat across from Collins is important and Johnson is a guy to watch.

He’s someone I expected to hear a lot about in the coming weeks leading up to the spring game. But in detailing the 40-times of wide receivers, Sam Webb of The Michigan Insider noted that he and Jackson were injured, so who knows. It could have just been something minor. Either way, when Michigan football gets back together as a team, Johnson is someone I expect to shine.
