Michigan Football: Wolverines cancel spring game, recruiting trips
Michigan football announced that its annual spring game will be canceled due to the outbreak of Covid-19 and recruiting will also be impacted.
Not only will the Michigan basketball team and its fans be impacted by the NCAA’s announcement that its Men’s and Women’s tournaments will be held without fans, but Michigan football will also be impacted as the University of Michigan cancelled the spring game and all recruiting trips.
The announcement from the school came shortly after all fans were banned from March Madness which was a pretty stunning step in its own right. The Big Ten tournament is still going on as planned for now.
Here’s more from the U of M:
"“All U-M home competitions will be played as scheduled with only student-athletes, coaches, officials, essential personnel and a limit of two family members per participant in attendance. Credentialed media and broadcast partners will be accommodated at games and encouraged to utilize social distancing.”"
The statement also had this to say about recruiting:
"“For the health and safety of all involved, Michigan will not be allowing coaches to conduct off-campus recruiting activities or host recruits on official or unofficial campus visits during this time period.”"

The school was supposed to be hosting the NCAA gymnastics championships and that is something it said it will be working on closely with the NCAA to see if that continues. All travel will also be decided on a case-by-case basis, which would include March Madness.
And just minutes ago, the Big Ten announced it would make the same move in the conference tournament with no fans attending starting on Thursday.
