Wagner has been playing lights out

One of the bright spots in the loss for Michigan basketball was the play, once again, of Franz Wagner who finished with 17 points on 7-of-9 shooting in addition to grabbing seven rebounds.

The 6-foot-9 freshman is averaging 11.2 points and 5.6 rebounds per game for the season and in his last four games, he’s getting 17 points and seven boards a night. That’s impressive stuff, especially considering he’s 7-of-17 (41 percent) from beyond the arc.

Wisconsin wasn’t able to contain Wagner for the entire game but the Badgers limited his impact by allowing him to shoot just two 3-pointers, one of which came in the final 30 seconds.

However, that allowed Franz to showcase some other parts of his game, such as attacking the basket, something he has done more confidently as of late. Following this recent stretch, there is no doubt that Wagner is going to follow his brother into the NBA, likely as a first-round pick.

The only question to me is whether or not that happens after this season or following the 2021 campaign.
