Michigan Basketball: 3 Things we learned in Wolverines loss to Wisconsin
Michigan basketball
If there is one player in Michigan’s normal starting lineup that gets overlooked, it’s Brooks, the junior guard that many believe will head to the bench next season when all the five-star recruits are expected to arrive.
After last night’s game though, fans are probably thinking like old Lee Corso, “Not so fast my friend.”
That’s because, without Brooks, Michigan basketball fell apart defensively. The 6-foot-3 guard was missed desperately on the defensive end but also on offense too. Michigan struggled to take care of the ball without Brooks and frankly, just executing early on was a struggle.
The Wolverines stayed in the game because Simpson was going off and making tough shot after tough shot, but that’s no way to live. Brooks would have made things much easier. He gives U-M another ball-screen guard who can shoot, attack the bucket and find others for shots.
All those simple things were missed. Thankfully, Brooks will be back in the lineup against Ohio State and after what we saw against Wisconsin, we all know just how much his presence will be needed against the Buckeyes.
