Top Michigan football target, Rocco Spindler, who is also being recruited by Notre Dame bumped into Lou Holtz and speculated it could be a sign.

Sometimes, no matter what you do in recruiting, there are forces working against you and after what happened this week, that could be the case with Michigan football and Rocco Spindler.

Spindler is one of the Wolverines top targets in the 2021 class and he’s a guy that’s elite. He’s 6-foot-4 and 295 pounds, from Clarkston, Michigan. He’s also listed by 247 sports as one of the top offensive guards in the country. In the 247 composite rankings, he’s 47th nationally and the No. 2 guard.

As the third-ranked player in the state of Michigan, he’s been a top priority for Michigan football for some time and the Wolverines appear to be the strong favorite to land his commitment, despite others like Notre Dame and Ohio State pushing for him too.

Michigan football holds six of his eight crystal ball predictions and the only other one went to Notre Dame and that was last April.

While the Wolverines and their fans have probably been feeling pretty good about Spindler and where things stand, there is a tweet by Rocco that has Notre Dame fans excited and it’s because he happened to bump into former Irish head coach Lou Holtz.

It’s sort of comical this happened until you get to the part where Spindler asks is that’s a sign he should pick Notre Dame? Then, it wasn’t really that funny.

In all seriousness, you never know what can change things in a recruiting battle. Something like this could have an impact. If it’s close you never really know. That’s why people always fret, probably too much, about what these recruits post on social media.

At the end of the day, whether Spinder is a Wolverine or joins the Irish, his chance meeting with Lou Holtz likely won’t be the deciding factor.

But that still doesn’t mean I don’t wish it wouldn’t have happened. Where’s Lloyd Carr or Tom Brady or someone when you need him?
