Michigan Basketball: Examining the final 4 Games in the regular season
Ohio State
The Wolverines had their chance to defeat Ohio State, and they fell short. It was at home, and while they were without Isaiah Livers, they competed at a high level and almost pulled it out.
Just as it looked like U-M had the chance to take the lead, Zavier Simpson was fouled, and also called for a foul – the flagrant kind that gives the opponent free throws and the ball.
Big Ten officiating treachery at it’s finest.
Michigan basketball could have done more to ensure they wouldn’t be in that position in the first place. Davis went 4-4, and yet he was limited to 14 minutes while Teske was an abysmal 1-7 in his 35 minutes. The analytics might suggest otherwise, but the statistics, from a general overview, favor Davis heavily.
For the Wolverines to defeat OSU, as I said before, they must change precisely nothing from what they have been doing. As long as U-M has a healthy Livers, the contest will be completely different from the first even though it held at Value City Arena. Second-half adjustments from the coaching staff mitigated the Kaleb Wesson effect, and as long as they can keep up the stellar defense we’ve witnessed as of late, the Wolverines will be fine.
For the Buckeyes to win, they will require Michigan’s starters to fall into foul trouble, and they need a big game from Kaleb Wesson…again. In addition, they better hope there aren’t any makeup calls for that awful flagrant absurdly assigned to Simpson.
