Michigan basketball scored a huge road win Wednesday night at Rutgers and here is what it means and three things we learned about the Wolverines.

The Michigan basketball team was up against a lot Wednesday night at Rutgers. Not only were the Wolverines trying to win in a gym that no outside team has this season, but they also had to try to and do it without their best player, Isaiah Livers, who didn’t suit up.

Missing Livers and then seeing his replacement, Brandon Johns, get into foul trouble and score just one point could have been a nightmare scenario for the Wolverines. Instead, guys stepped up.

Colin Castleton scored only five points, but he put down a 3-point play that helped turn the tide. David DeJulius reached double figures off the bench and was huge on both ends of the floor. Late in the game, his defense and free throws helped ice it.

Zavier Simpson was also special last night. Just like he was against the Scarlet Knights at Madison Square Garden. When things weren’t going well early, Simpson calmly hit a 3-pointer. He also was the Wolverines leading scorer and reached the 1,000-point mark with one of his patented hook shots.

All in all, it was a great night for Michigan basketball. The Wolverines beat a good team, in a tough place to play and they did it without their best player. Say what you will, but heading into the stretch run having won six of seven, these Wolverines are dangerous and here are three things we learned from the monster win at the RAC.
