Point guard

Starter: David DeJulius

Backups: Zeb Jackson, Brandon Wade

John Beilein had an incredible string of point guards starting with Darius Morris, to Trey Burke, to Derrick Walton, to Zavier Simpson, to David DeJulius. It all began in 2009 and will continue for another two years under the man nicknamed DDJ.

Although Howard didn’t have a hand in DeJulius’ recruitment, he is the obvious starter at his position for the 2020-21 season, followed closely by incoming freshman Zeb Jackson, who is ranked No. 68 overall and No. 9 in Flordia with a 9733 composite rating and four-stars. Zeb made his pledge to Michigan basketball under Beilein, and he reaffirmed it once Juwan took over.

The unknown here is Brandon Wade, the walk-on transfer from Duquesne, who had to sit out this year. He had 26 Division I offers out of high school but was not rated by any of the mainstream basketball recruiting websites. While his freshman year was underwhelming, up against much better competition day-in and day-out, Brandon could become the third option in case of emergency by next season and a contributor moving forward.

Another option is Eli Brooks; although Eli is proving to be a valuable asset at SG and with the depth at PG, he’ll most likely stick to the next position on this list.

Note: This has been updated to show Brandon Wade had 26 offers out of high school according to his father.
