Wolverines should have a huge edge on triples

With Livers missing a huge chunk of games, Michigan basketball may not shoot the 3-point shot as well statistically as one might expect, but in his first two games back, U-M has made 18 treys, an average of nine per game.

That’s a solid number and it’s one the Wolverines should approach Saturday at Crisler against the Hoosiers, who are 12th in the Big Ten in 3-point percentage defense, allowing opponents to make 34.7 percent.

For their part, the Wolverines are shooting just under 31 percent during conference play, however, that number has gone up with Livers and with him spacing the floor, being able to create his own shot, it opens up a lot of other things.

As defenses focus more on Livers, it seems to have opened up things from Eli Brooks, who has connected on six treys in the last two games. Franz Wagner and David DeJulius will get more open looks too. And since U-M has the best 3-point defense in the Big Ten, points from beyond the arc should favor the Wolverines going away.
