The 5-star safety

Daxton Hill was the gem of Michigan football’s 2019 recruiting class and during his first season in Ann Arbor, he certainly showed why so many thought so highly of him.

It took Hill a little time to find his footing in the secondary, but during the second half of the season, he was a key contributor on the backend and work his way into being a starter for the Wolverines.

He saw a lot of time in the nickel defense, as a slot corner and that’s an interesting thought going forward. Michigan definitely needs a centerfielder and Hill could be perfect in that role. However, still needs those chances to be around the line of scrimmage. He’s a great tackler and he just has a knack for finding the ball.

Last season, Hill finished with 36 tackles, three tackles for loss, two fumble recoveries, an interception and three pass breakups.

The sophomore still has work to do, yet there is little doubt that Hill will ascend into an All-Big Ten performer next season and it wouldn’t be too shocking if he ended up being Michigan football’s best defensive player.
