Upstart QB

Obviously, the biggest question facing Michigan football going into the 2020 season is who is going to be the starting quarterback?

As of now, we know that it’s going to come down to Dylan McCaffrey and Joe Milton unless Cade McNamara comes out of nowhere to push for the job. And while Milton has an exceptional arm, McCaffrey is talented too and he’s also a dynamic runner, although he has had some injuries.

The reason I lean towards McCaffrey as the quarterback is that he just seems more prepared. He doesn’t throw deep as well as Milton or at least as far, but he throws an accurate ball. He seems to have the lower floor, if maybe the lower ceiling but that’s not necessarily true.

Milton has gotten this buzz as guys often do and it’s justified. He is a real threat to win the job, McCaffrey just seems better suited to play point guard for all the Wolverines playmakers and his ability to run the ball, will also add a much-needed dynamic.

The Josh Gattis system worked best with a lot of quick, accurate throws with Ronnie Bell, Mike Sainristil and Giles Jackson all returning, McCaffrey should excel if he’s able to hold off Milton.
