Colin Castleton

Colin has had a head-scratching sophomore season for the Wolverines. He, like the rest of the younger guys, was expected to take a leap this season. We haven’t seen that from Castleton and that is because of a variety of factors.

The first factor is that he has lost his minutes to Austin Davis. Colin was in the discussion for the backup center role this season but Davis has just flat out outplayed the sophomore. Davis has been a reliable backup to Teske and unless something dramatically changes, it will stay that way the rest of the season.

The second factor is that Castleton still needs to add weight to his frame. The Big Ten has a lot of physical big men that can impose their will on the sophomore. He has a wiry frame at 6’11” weighing only 210 pounds.

Going through the rigors of a Big Ten schedule will take a lot out of you, just ask Teske.

Castleton has seen game action when Teske gets into foul trouble. They are usually short spurts of 2-3 minutes. Castleton has to take advantage of these moments to show Howard what he can do. That doesn’t just mean scoring, that means playing good defense and being in the right position.
