Austin Davis Shines

The often heralded senior was a bit of a laughing-stock coming into his last season. He’s barely seen time during his career with Michigan basketball, but this year the light has seemed to turn on for Davis. He’s averaging more points, rebounds, minutes and quality moments than anyone could have imagined at the beginning of this season.

On the night, Davis had his highest point total of the year so far. He was easily the main reserve off the pine for Michigan on the night. He worked his way to find holes in Ohio State’s defense to go 100 percent from the field for the seventh time this year. He also earned three trips to the free throw line in which he went perfect to add to his career performance.

In the future ahead, Davis should stay in the rotation because of his recent efforts. Colin Castleton has fallen out of favor and Davis has taken full advantage of this opportunity. Plus his body type fits the mold for what the rest of the Big Ten offers when it comes to the big man position.
