Johns, Wagner continue to emerge

During the Wolverines two-game win streak, Johns has averaged 18 points per game, seven rebounds per game and is 5-of-8 from 3-point range.

That’s the player many thought Michigan basketball was getting in the former East Lansing product that was the state’s top player at one time. Whether it was just a matter of time or getting extended minutes, the light has clicked on for Johns and it couldn’t come at a better time.

Defensively, he has been disruptive too. He blocked two shots Saturday against Rutgers and his athleticism is causing problems for opposing teams on both ends and on the boards.

On top of that, Wagner has also been more consistent. The freshman scored 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds against Nebraska, despite hitting just one trey, then added 10 and six in the win over Rutgers. The fact that he’s scored 30 points in two games with just two triples shows how far his game has come.

Tonight, in another huge game, expect both Johns and Wagner to continue this recent trend.
