Michigan will win the 3-point battle

One of the key battles in the Michigan-Ohio State game is going to be 3-pointers. Both teams shoot the ball well from beyond the arc and the team that knocks down more 3-point field goals will have a big advantage.

During the Wolverines losing skid, they didn’t shoot the ball well at all, regardless of whether it was at home or on the road. But that all changed last week against Nebraska and then against Rutgers when they made 9-of-19. Brandon Johns alone was 4-of-7. Eli Brooks also hit three.

Yet, against the Buckeyes, making 3-pointers won’t be the only important thing, Michigan also has to slow down Ohio State, which ranks 2nd in the Big Ten in shots made from beyond the arc in conference play.

Ohio State is shooting 36.9 percent as a team in the Big Ten and if the Wolverines are going to win this game, they simply can’t allow the Buckeyes to have a big shooting day. The fact that Michigan has allowed the fewest makes and 3-point attempts of any team in the Big Ten certainly makes you think U-M can win the battle, especially with Carton out of the lineup.
