Isaiah’s Injury

The costly injury that happened to Isaiah Livers in the Presbyterian outing just added to the misfortune. While missing the next six, Michigan basketball went 2-4 in that span and dropped out of the top 25 altogether. Others stepped up in his absence, but ultimately the same troubles that spurned them in earlier losses came back to bite them again. As for Simpson’s suspension, it’s yet to be seen how it will last and effect the lineup long term.

Fortunately, Livers returned in a rematch with the Illini. He was getting back into the thick of things when he got reinjured again. He played 20 minutes while trying to get in the groove that could have helped Michigan earn a quality win for March. The depleted look on his face after he got injured again said it all. It was a microcosm of how Michigan’s season has gone as of late.

He’s considered day-to-day heading into the Rutgers affair. With how close Michigan keeps its injury news to the vest from outsiders, it probably means he will be a game-time decision until he actually suits up. The latest injury didn’t look as bad, so he shouldn’t miss as much time as he did the first time around. Whenever he is set to return though, the maize and blue will fight to get back to performing at a top 25 form.
