The NCAA tournament is still within reach

Michigan kept its NCAA tournament hopes alive Tuesday night, but for how long is another question entirely.

The next three games will decide that and the tough stretch starts Saturday at Madison Square Garden. Oddly enough, that counts as a home game for the Wolverines, who will also travel to New Jersey to play the Scarlet Knights in a true road game next month.

This Saturday, U-M will battle No. 25 Rutgers in New York. It could be sort of a road game for Michigan basketball unless the Wolverines turn out a bunch of fans, which they should.

If Simpson and Livers are back, that would be a huge help. After Rutgers, the Wolverines will host Ohio State and Michigan State next week. Certainly, winning all three of those games seems like a tall task, but if Michigan beats Rutgers, gets healthy and plays at home, it’s more likely than we might think.

If this team can find its groove and defend its home court, 6-6 in Big Ten play isn’t a pipedream and if that happens, an NCAA’s will be within U-M’s grasp.
