Michigan basketball needed a win in the worst way Tuesday night at Nebraska and thanks to some big-time performances, the Wolverines got it.

It would have been hard for the Michigan basketball team to be in a tougher spot than it was Tuesday night at Nebraska.

The Wolverines were on the road against a hungry Huskers team that had shown itself capable of beating good teams at home. U-M also had to try and end a four-game losing streak, without arguably its top two players in Isaiah Livers and Zavier Simpson.

In the end, it wasn’t necessarily pretty, but Michigan basketball scored a huge road win over Nebraska and kept the season alive in the process. U-M is still definitely on the bubble but 3-6 is much better than 2-7 in the Big Ten and a loss on the road to the Huskers could have sunk their hopes entirely, save a miracle winning streak down the stretch.

Now, Michigan still needs to go a run, but there is hope.

Juwan Howard‘s team gutted out a win and in the process, won for the first time in a true road game. The next test comes Saturday at Madison Square Garden against a Rutgers team that is much better than expected.

Who knows if Simpson and Livers will be back by then. If so, maybe Michigan basketball can turn this thing around. Even so, there were lots of positives Tuesday night and here’s a look at three things we learned.
