Michigan football could still add a piece or two for 2020, but the roster is set for the most part and here is our projection for the defensive two-deep next season.

While the signing period is still coming up next month for Michigan football and every other major program, recruiting for 2020 is mostly completed at this point.

The Wolverines are looking at a few prospects in 2020, as well as some potential transfer options, especially on the offensive and defensive lines. That could have an impact on the depth chart, particularly on the defensive line which could use an extra piece or two.

But the rest of the team is set for the most part. Last week, we took a look at what the offensive depth chart could look like in 2020 and now it’s time to breakdown what the defense could look like.

We know for sure that there will be two new assistant coaches. Bob Shoop will take over the safeties for Chris Partridge and Brian Jean-Mary, recently hired, will take over coaching linebackers for Anthony Campanile.

Don Brown is still back as defensive coordinator, but both Shoop and Jean-Mary were coordinators last season, so it’s possible they could assist with some defensive adjustments, which are desperately needed.

More than that, Michigan football needs some of its top recruits to start delivering. Guys like Daxton Hill, Chris Hinton and Mazi Smith. Those names will be prominent on the depth chart and here’s what the projection in its entirety.
