Linebackers

Starters: LB Cam McGrone, LB Josh Ross, LB Anthony Solomon, LB Michael Barrett; Backups:  LB Kalel Mullings; LB Charles Thomas; LB Nikhai Hill-Green, LB Joey Velazquez:

Just like on the defensive line, Michigan football does some different things with its linebackers. At times, the Wolverines will have two, three or four guys standing up and roaming around.

While there is no clear replacement on the roster for Uche, who played as a defensive end as a linebacker at times, Michigan does have clear starters returning in Cameron McGrone, who burst onto the scene as possibly the Wolverines top defender, as well as Josh Ross, who just was never healthy in 2019.

At the Viper, it should be either Anthony Solomon or Michael Barrett, a former running back, who did some damage on special teams this season. Both are quick and athletic. Some younger guys like Kalel Mulling could be in a position to contribute as well as possibly even Jaylen Harrell, another incoming freshman if a pass rusher is really needed.

There are still questions about the edge but in terms of the other three positions, the Wolverines have to feel pretty good about where they stand at linebacker, outside of depth concerns.
