Can Michigan avoid another loss?

This is obviously a huge game for the Wolverines as they sit at 2-3 in the Big Ten. The schedule does get a little bit easter and it’s hard to blame Michigan basketball too much for losing at Minnesota, Purdue and Michigan State, which are all top-50 teams according to Kenpom.

Iowa is ranked 15th in the Kenpom rankings and more importantly, the Hawkeyes have the fourth-best offense according to those rankings. Michigan basketball is the No. 19 team and despite its poor record in the Big Ten, U-M is a solid team.

The loss of Livers has absolutely killed this team. Michigan likely wins the game Sunday at Minnesota and maybe even has a chance against the Spartans. His shooting, handling, defense and leadership is desperately missed.

It doesn’t seem like he will return tonight, so a win will require a special effort from someone, likely Wagner, who would need around 20 points or so if Michigan is going to pull this upset. Between Teske, Simpson and Wagner, the Wolverines need at least 50 points.

They might get it, however, Iowa is simply too good at home against a weakened Michigan squad, which will fall to 2-4 tonight.
