Michigan Football: Predicting Wolverines offensive two-deep for 2020
Michigan football didn’t finish 2019 how it wanted, but the offense stood out and here’s a look at the projected two-deep on offense for 2020.
The 2019 Michigan football season was a disappointment. There is no question about that as the Wolverines went into the season hoping to win the Big Ten and finished 9-4, ranking 18th in the final AP poll.
All of the excitement about the new offense at Michigan football under offensive coordinator Josh Gattis didn’t live up to fruition, at least not in the beginning.
By the end of the year, the offense started to improve and sort of hit its stride. I say sort of because against Penn State, Ohio State and Alabama, the offense was really only productive for a half and in each game, red-zone failures doomed the Wolverines.
Everyone has come to the conclusion that all the Wolverines need to compete with elite teams is an elite quarterback and for the most part, that’s true. But there are also key pieces to replace on the offensive line and at wide receiver with the loss of Donovan Peoples-Jones.
The quarterback battle between Dylan McCaffrey and Joe Milton will take center stage, but there are some other key fights for playing time at wide receiver, tight end, running back and the previously mentioned offensive line.
Here’s an early look at how all that could play out and an early projection at what Michigan football’s two-deep could look like on offense in 2020.
