Kemp is going to return for a fifth season

Over the past two years, Carlo Kemp has turned into a reliable starter for Michigan football on the defensive line. He may not be a prototypical defensive tackle and some Wolverines fans may want him replaced.

Yet, those that think that day don’t really get the value Kemp can still provide. He played in one game back in 2016, so he needed a waiver for a fifth year and according to Brandon Justice of Wolverines Lounge, Kemp got it and will return to Michigan next season.

The 6-foot-3, 286-pound defensive lineman registered 40 tackles last season and while he was part of a defensive line that could have played better against Wisconsin, Penn State, Ohio State and Alabama, he adds key depth and versatility.

Kemp is a guy that can play in a four-man front or an even front as a defensive end, even though he was used more on the interior last season. With Chris Hinton getting more snaps inside, along with Mazi Smith, the return of Kemp will bring another good player back on the defensive front and a guy that plays multiple roles.
