Wagner is starting to realize potential

A lot of Michigan basketball fans have been critical of Franz Wagner and he has struggled at times in his first season with the Wolverines.

But people have forgotten that he was hurt. The wrist injury seemed to impact his shot and early on, he wasn’t playing with much confidence.

It was always going to take some time for him to get comfortable and in the past six games, he has started to do that. During that stretch, he has averaged 2.3 makes from beyond the arc and is averaging close to 12 points per game.

On Sunday, he made four 3-pointers on his way to 17 points. He was slashing, getting to the basket and really looked like the scorer Michigan thought it was getting when it signed him.

The absence of Livers has forced him into a bigger role and his response is a really positive thing. When Isaiah does return, Michigan will have even more weapons offensively and at the very least, Wagner gives them another reliable shooter that’s desperately needed.
