The putrid play away from Big House continues

Whether it’s a bowl game or just a road game against a top-20 team, Michigan football can’t seem to beat anyone good away from the Big House.

The Wolverines are now 1-4 under Jim Harbaugh in bowl games and haven’t beaten a top-15 team in a road or neutral game since the final game of Lloyd Carr‘s coaching career. The only top-25 road win since 2006 came in 2018 against Michigan State, a team that went 7-6.

Harbaugh got a nice win over Florida in the Citrus Bowl during his first season. But it’s hard to believe that might be the best win of his tenure, at least away from home.

Michigan has beaten Notre Dame, Penn State and Wisconsin at home, yet until it can do it on the road, it’s not going to win the Big Ten. And furthermore, if the Wolverines can’t win in Madison or Happy Valley, how do they think they will ever win in Columbus?
