#8: 03/12/2017 – DJ Wilson’s Thunderous Dunk Solidifies Michigan’s Crazy Weekend, Winning the Big Ten Tournament

There was no way this list would have been created without mentioning the eventful weekend that the Michigan Basketball program had in March of 2017.

In what started as a flight to the Big Ten Tournament, Michigan had their plane skid on the runway and crashed, and thankfully, everyone was safe and unharmed.

The crash would end up causing tons of problems for the Wolverines, as they were forced to arrange an alternative travel plan, and were without their jerseys, forcing to play in their practice uniforms for their first game against Illinois.

The jerseys would seemed to spark the Wolverines for the better, from a basketball standpoint.

As the No.8 seed in the tournament, led by senior PG Derrick Walton Jr., Michigan would roll past #9 Illinois, beat Purdue (who was the No.1 seed) in overtime, squeak by No. 4 Minnesota, and then to finish off the storybook ending, rout No. 2 Wisconsin, en route to the Big Ten Tournament title, becoming the lowest seed to ever take home the championship.

While there were many significant moments from that miraculous weekend, DJ Wilson’s thunderous dunk remains the cherry on top and the closing moment of what was an amazing spectacle for Wolverine fans.
