#10: 01/27/2011 – Stu Douglass Leads Michigan to Upset Victory against #25 Michigan State

It was the game that got Michigan Basketball back on the map.

Michigan traveled to East Lansing to square off against their arch-rivals, the Michigan State Spartans, who, at the time, the Wolverines had not beaten on the road since 1997. The Wolverines were struggling prior to the rivalry game on the road, currently riding a six-game losing streak, having a sense of urgency heading into the game against the Spartans.

Enter Stu Douglass.

With the Wolverines playing close to a perfect game, they had found themselves with a two-point lead. Looking to close it out, Darius Morris found Stu wide-open, and the team captain knocked it down, completing the upset, as the Wolverines defeated the Spartans 61-57.

The victory became the turning point of the season for the Wolverines that year, making it all the way to the Big Ten tournament semi-finals, and would later make it all the way to the second round of the NCAA tournament, ultimately was the beginning of the success under John Beilein.
