Defense: B-plus

Michigan football didn’t necessarily have more star power on the defensive side of the ball in the 2020 recruiting class but there is certainly more depth.

McGregor, who ranks fourth at his position in the 2020 class, is the top-ranked defensive recruit. However, the No. 108 prospect may not be available for fall camp after hurting his knee in his final season of high school football.

Still, once he’s recovered, he should be a solid pass rusher and presence along the defensive line at 6-foot-6 and 260 pounds.

Michigan also added four-star pass rusher, Jaylen Harrell recently and could also bring Green-Warren, a four-star corner into the mix. Michigan has been trending in crystal ball selections. That could push the grade up a little because on top of those guys, U-M added a solid group that includes corner Andre Seldon and safeties Makari Paige, Jordan Morant, R.J. Moten and William Mohan.

Kalel Mullings is a top-200 outside linebacker and fellow four-star linebacker gives Michigan football eight commits in the top 307 overall. Green-Warren would make it nine and with solid talent added at all three levels, it was a job well done.
