Michigan Football: 5 predictions for the Wolverines against Ohio State
Michigan football will meet Ohio State in The Game Saturday at the Big House. Here are five predictions for the Wolverines and Buckeyes.
It doesn’t get any bigger than Michigan football and Ohio State. For both teams, it’s not just a game or a rivalry — it’s everything.
And for the Wolverines, this game has been a year in the making. Their season hasn’t gone as planned but they can make up for 62-39. In fact, it’s really the only thing they have left.
If Michigan football loses this game, it will go to the Outback Bowl or the Gator or the Holiday. It could still beat a solid team and win a 10th game for the fourth time in five years, but it would still feel empty and it would be hard to call that a success.
Beating Ohio State is obviously going to take an incredible effort. The Buckeyes aren’t just good, they are great and they might be the best team in the country.
New head coach Ryan Day inherited an incredibly talented roster and the addition of Justin Fields was perfect. Fields and Chase Young are each viable Heisman contenders and they are just the tip of the iceberg.
But Michigan football is talented too. Shea Patterson was a former five-star recruit and during the Wolverines four-game winning streak, he has been lights out. Others like Donovan Peoples-Jones, Nico Collins, Josh Uche, Lavert Hill and Cesar Ruiz are all sure-fire NFL players.
There is also talent and experience on both sides of the ball, in the front seven on defense, the offensive line, running back and the secondary.
And after a rough start, head coach Jim Harbaugh has the Wolverines rolling and after beating Notre Dame by 31 and Michigan State by 34, this won’t be a cakewalk for Ohio State.
