Win the turnover battle or at least don’t lose it

The defense has done a really nice job of taking the football away during this four-game winning steak and the Wolverines did it twice last week against Indiana.

Beating Ohio State will require winning the turnover battle or at the very least, being even in it. Turnovers weren’t the reason Michigan lost last season, but it didn’t help and Patterson has to avoid interceptions and fumbles.

Not turning the ball over against Ohio State is difficult and it will be a huge challenge, but it’s a must for Shea and the offense. At the same time, if the defense could find a way to get the football back through an interception or a fumble, it could be a game-changer.

There’s no doubt that Ohio State is the more talented team. The Buckeyes have one of the best quarterbacks in college football and probably the most dominant player overall in Chase Young.

Yet, Michigan has talented too and if it can win the turnover battle by getting a break or two, it has enough talent to win this game.
