Patterson is playing as well as ever

There are a few reasons to feel good about this Michigan football team heading into the Ohio State game, but there are none more important than the play of Patterson.

With his team trailing twice in the first half, Patterson didn’t blink. The Wolverines came out throwing the ball and from start to finish, Patterson was spectacular.

He did miss a couple of touchdown passes and wasn’t perfect. He even threw an interception late, however, 366 yards and five touchdowns is hard to criticize.

Patterson bought time in the pocket and was allowed to feed the football to his top targets, Nico Collins and Donovan Peoples-Jones. Those guys, especially Collins, who caught three touchdowns, had breakout performances and the offense, thanks to Patterson, looks better than ever.

Back in December, Patterson decided to return to Michigan football to beat Ohio State. There were other goals, but that is the last one still available for this team and beating the Buckeyes will cement his legacy as a very good Wolverines quarterback.

He’s one of only a few to throw at least 20 touchdowns in back-to-back seasons, but like Tom Brady in 1999, he needs to beat Ohio State.

If he plays like he has the past four weeks, he will have a good shot.
