Michigan football put together an impressive win over Indiana Saturday and here are five key things we learned about the Wolverines.

There were a number of reasons to be concerned about Michigan football heading to Indiana. The last two trips certainly weren’t easy and with the 7-win Hoosiers awaiting the Wolverines, it felt like it could be a battle.

And early on, it looked like it was going to be.

Indiana took the opening drive down the field for a touchdown and Michigan football offered little resistance on defense. After a second Indiana touchdown, it was 14-7 Hoosiers and it seemed like it was going to be a shootout.

But as the defense has done for much of 2019, it adjusted and it got better as the game went on. At one point, Indiana went three-and-out in five of six possessions. The defense also grabbed a pair of critical turnovers, one that helped set up a clinching touchdown pass from Shea Patterson to Nico Collins that made it 39-14 in the third quarter.

Thanks to a second-half shutout by the defense, Michigan football held that 25-point margin of victory, giving the Wolverines an impressive road win and keeping their hopes alive for a New Year’s Six Bowl game.

The idea that this team could run the table after Penn State seemed like a stretch. But now UM is one win away and looking ahead to Ohio State, here are five things we learned from the win over Indiana.
