Michigan Football: 3 Postseason bowl scenarios for Wolverines
Four losses and unranked
If the Wolverines dropped another two games, they would undoubtedly fall out of the rankings and won’t even get a single vote despite the decisive win over a then top ten Notre Dame team. Still, at eight wins, the Wolverines don’t have to worry about landing at the Cure Bowl, which was inhabited by the Tulane Green Wave and the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns a year ago.
Starting in 2015, the Cure Bowl’s biggest named team to participate is either UCF, Western Kentucky, or Georgia State.
The eight-win teams generally stayed toward the latter half of the year and even crept into a New Years Six with the Outback Bowl featuring Iowa and Mississippi State – both with four losses.
Best case, Michigan gets a win over at least one (current or former) Ohio State coach when they are matched up against Luke Fickell’s Cincinnati Bear Cats and Jim Harbaugh gets revenge for Luke falsely claiming Jim hinders the transfer process.
Worst case, UM and a four or five loss Texas get slotted in the Dollar General Bowl, which would be unwatchable.
The middle of the road scenario is Michigan faces either Auburn – if they lose to Alabama – or Memphis – should they fall to Cincinnati.
