Michigan Football: 5 things we learned in blowout of Michigan State
Harbaugh has Wolverines rolling again
After the loss to Penn State, there was a lot of negativity surrounding Jim Harbaugh and Michigan football. There was even talk that he was looking for a way out to go to the NFL.
Well, then he came out forcefully against it. He said he was committed to Michigan football and that the Wolverines were going to get it right (paraphrasing).
Since then, this has been a completely new football team. It clicked in the second half against Penn State, but it hasn’t let up since. Michigan kicked Notre Dame’s teeth in on national television and then did the same thing to Michigan State.
Yes, Harbaugh is 0-4 against Ohio State. But against his other rivals, his record is now 4-3. He has won three of four games against Michigan State and three straight in rivalry games against teams other than the Buckeyes.
Obviously, that’s the last hurdle that needs to be climbed, outside of winning the Big Ten. But that’s not going to happen until this program proves it can beat the Buckeyes.
Following the Penn State loss, I said running the table was one way this season could be labeled a success and now, UM is just two wins away and Harbaugh has the Wolverines playing at an extremely high level.
